Biography

Chukwuma C. Ogbaga is an Associate Professor of Biology and Biotechnology, Nile University of Nigeria. He was the acting HoD, Department of Biology, the academic adviser of 400 level students, students’ project supervisor, and a member of research board of Nile University of Nigeria. He has teaching and research experience at the university level spanning the United Kingdom, the United States, and Nigeria. Prior to joining Nile University of Nigeria in 2016, Prof. Ogbaga was a Postdoctoral Fellow for the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). He was also a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Illinois, USA from 2014 – 2015. At Illinois, he studied wild type and transgenic soybean’s growth and physiological mechanisms under adverse environmental conditions. In 2014, he was a visiting Research Fellow at Rothamsted Research, Harpenden, UK.

Prof. Ogbaga holds a PhD in Plant Biology (with focus on the physiological, biochemical and metabolomic effects of drought on the C4 plant Sorghum) from the University of Manchester, England. He has a Master’s (M.Sc.) in Biotechnology from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. He is currently interested in the physiological, biochemical, and spectroscopic responses of plants to abiotic stress.
